I have a slipped disc on L1/L2 which I am told they cannot do anything about. I also have spondylolisthesis (one vertebrae has slipped forward on top of the one below) on L4/L5 causing spinal stenosis, facet joints badly deteriorated and some decompression on L5.

I am told that I need a spinal fusion operation, which I have to admit scares the living daylights out of me. I would be really grateful for any tips, advice, knowledge that anyone who has had this op could give me. Especially on how you managed once back at home, as I live on my own.

I have no idea how you manage to lay in bed after this surgery or how to cover up in the shower before the stitches come out , so anything you could tell me would be really useful.

Thanks
Jo

Hi Joan

I'm afraid I can't help with this one, but just want to give my support, I can well imagine how wary you must be, especially living on your own.

I am sure social services wil help out when you come home from the hospital and also the OT/physios will advise you.

If no-one responds on the forum, why not ring the helpline and they will put you in touch with someone who has had this done?

Take care and please let us know how things progress.

Love Jeanxx

Hi Joan

I agree with Jean too, and hopefully you will have a better path forward with the op, it must be so daunting you certainly need lots of support and advice.

Take care, Julia x

Thanks Julia and Jean for your replies. I hadn't thought about ringing the helpline for this but it's a great idea.
